The
CareerBooster Process
Phase 1: Marketing and
Placement
This is the stage in the process where students first learn
about the CareerBooster tool. This
can be done by visiting the Benchmark Learning website and then working independently within CareerBooster or with
one of our qualified training advisors in developing an effective career driven profile. Access may also be granted
through a confirmation letter you may have received relative to a class attendance, or on the first day of
the class you are attending.
Phase 2: Profiling and Assessing
However you may have heard and found about CareerBooster, you will find benefit in profiling and assessing
your skills to determine where gaps may exist and then understand the best education
solution to close those gaps. CareerBooster
offers several assessment options:
- When a student registers for a class they
are asked to complete the assessment for their class. The results are first used by the training advisor to validate the right training for the right needs.
The results are also used by Benchmark Learning instructors,
who will gain insight into the skill levels of their students prior to the first day
of the class.
- Students further have the option to view other
areas of interest through the electronic profiler feature within CareerBooster. Here
they may drill down within different vendors, products, predefined roles or even
certification paths in building onto their profile and assessing their skills in producing a prescriptive learning solution for their needs.
- Individuals may be pursuing classes by their
employers or for their own personal growth to
gain a better handle on the technology and they are unsure of what class
or level to take. CareerBooster
makes training recommendations based off of their results.
- Certifications play a role in most
technology careers. A lot of
organizations are requiring their staff to have certifications in order to move
up in their career. End users are
faced with the dilemma of what courses to take in order to help them with their
certifications. CareerBooster has
a section that breaks the assessments down by certification and makes training
recommendations based off of those results.
Phase 3: Prescriptive Learning Solutions
Once the assessment is completed, there are three reports
available to an end user (Note: you must be mapped to an active training advisor at Benchmark Learning).
- Achievements Report: This report will show you all of the assessments you have
completed as well as the rating you gave yourself within each skill.
- Gaps Report: This report shows you all of the assessments you have completed, the rating
you gave yourself within each skill as well as the target proficiency rating for that skill.
Anything less than the target rating is established as a “gap” and may
be filled by completing an education solution in whole or in part that has been identified through your gap analysis and individual learning plan.
- Summary report: This report shows you an overall percentage toward completing your goal
within each education solution presented as part of your solution.
Phase 4: Further Value Adds
There are several reports that are generated for Benchmark Learning within
CareerBooster.
- Training advisors receive a report that an assessment has been
completed by an individual. They
can then use the information in the report to validate their training
recommendation.
- Instructors use the reports for classes to gain valuable
information about their students prior to the first day of class. This information will allow the instructor to see their classes’ skill
level on a modular basis. This
information can be used to view overall strengths and weaknesses in their
classes to adjust their attention relative to students’ specific needs.
- Companies who participate in this offering receive an in-house, professionally
administered skills assessment. Once the assessment is complete, you
will get a gap analysis and a customized training plan for your organization
and employees, based on the findings of the assessment.
- Training options available to you include instructor-led private or public
classroom training courses, self-paced online training courses, and books from
Microsoft Press®.
